PLEASE JOIN OUR FAMILY IN A
VIRTUAL CELEBRATION AS OUR SON
IS CALLED TO THE TORAH
AS A BAR MITZVAH.
MAY 15th, 2021
We are thrilled to celebrate Blake becoming a bar mitzvah with all of you! 2021 has not turned out as any of us have most likely planned. But our celebration of Blake becoming a Bar Mitzvah is still a go.
We invite you to return to this site on May 15, 2021 at 1:30 PM as Blake is called to the Torah. This will take place “live” from Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, MI. While we would have loved to have all of you with us in person for this wonderful simcha (Hebrew for a joyful occasion), attendance is minimized to immediate family and clergy.
Thank you in advance for joining us virtually to celebrate Blake and all his hard work and preparation to learn Torah!
Jen & Ryan
The Mitzvah Project is a meaningful way that Blake has engaged the world with a connection to important values of Judaism – like repairing the world (tikkun olam) and compassion for others (v'ahavta l'rayecha kamocha).
A NOTE FROM BLAKE
For my mitzvah project, my family and I participated in the “Warm Wraps, Warm Hearts” program. We made blankets for seniors living in nursing homes. Each blanket we made helped make sure that those most vulnerable in our community during the pandemic knew that they count and are important. Older people have achieved so much for our families, our communities, and our country -- it is important that we care for them and show them how valued they are.
This past year was hard because during the pandemic we have all been somewhat separated from each other. A warm and soft blanket, shirt, or sweater can help those that feel most isolated have a sense of protection and security. Consider donating a new blanket or personal care item through Jewish Family Services at jfsdetroit.org/ways-to-give/ in support of my mitzvah project.
